Project Overview

Jim Wise Demolition was appointed to carry out the demolition and site clearance of the former Medical Records Unit (MRU) and single-storey sub-house at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield. The work was essential to prepare the site for the construction of new modular buildings to support the hospital’s ongoing expansion.

Scope of Work

Challenges & Execution

Working within an active NHS hospital environment, this project required careful planning and controlled demolition methods to ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations. Our team conducted a methodical, staged demolition process, progressively dismantling structures to maintain safety and structural integrity.

Using excavators fitted with shears, grabs, and hydraulic munchers, we efficiently broke down materials while segregating waste streams to support sustainable disposal and recycling efforts.

Outcome

The project was successfully completed on time, on budget, and in full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The site is now cleared and ready for the hospital’s planned redevelopment, supporting the NHS in enhancing its facilities.
