Project Overview

Jim Wise Demolition was appointed to carry out the full demolition and site clearance of the former Biffa waste management facility at Newstead Industrial Estate, Stoke-on-Trent. The project involved the safe and efficient dismantling of large industrial buildings, preparing the site for redevelopment.

Scope of Work

✔️ Demolition of all buildings above ground

✔️ Removal of internal and external concrete bunds and bays

✔️ Perimeter fencing removal

✔️ Breaking and hydraulic munching of concrete slabs

✔️ Concrete crushing and material recycling

✔️ Final site clean-up and clearance

Challenges & Execution

This site required careful planning and precision demolition to ensure all materials were processed correctly while minimizing environmental impact. Our team used excavators fitted with shears, grabs, and munchers to safely dismantle the steel structures and crush the concrete for on-site recycling.

By breaking down materials efficiently and segregating waste streams, we ensured maximum resource recovery, reducing landfill waste and supporting sustainable demolition practices.

Outcome

The demolition was completed on time and in full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. With the site now fully cleared, it is ready for its next phase of redevelopment.
