Jim Wise Demolition is excited to announce our involvement in the selective demolition and site clearance of the former Distribution Repair Centre in Shrewsbury. Although the site is currently vacant, it still contains remnants of its previous use. Our task is to demolish specific internal structures while preserving the main partition walls and site offices.
Removal of Internal Structures:
- Stairways and walking platforms
- Fixtures and fittings installed by previous tenants
- Two-storey canteen/office
- All barriers and Armco internally and externally
Mechanical and Electrical Works:
- Removal of all associated mechanical and electrical systems
External Structures:
- Security office
- Demountable building
- Asbestos roof on the main warehouse
Material Handling:
- Cart away all demolition debris and materials
Plant and Machinery:
- Excavators with appropriate attachments
- Scissor lifts
- Telehandlers
Personnel:
- Site Manager
- Operatives certified in asbestos removal
- Demolition labourers
Tools and Equipment:
- Scaffolding
- Cordless saws
- Hand breakers
- Hammers and bars
One of the critical tasks in this project involves the safe removal of the asbestos roof from the main warehouse. Certified operatives will dampen the asbestos sheets to suppress dust, carefully detach them, and transport them to designated asbestos waste skips. This process will be conducted with strict adherence to health and safety regulations to ensure the well-being of both workers and the environment.
1. Initial Preparations:
1. Conduct a thorough site inspection and safety assessment.
2. Set up welfare facilities and secure the site perimeter.
3. Install necessary scaffolding and prepare tools and equipment.
2. Internal Demolition:
1. Remove stairways, walking platforms, and all fixtures and fittings.
2. Dismantle the two-storey canteen/office structure.
3. Eliminate all barriers and Armco from internal and external areas.
3. Mechanical and Electrical Systems:
- Safely disconnect and remove all associated mechanical and electrical systems.
4. External Structures:
- Demolish the external security office and demountable building.
5. Asbestos Roof Removal:
- Carefully remove the asbestos roof, ensuring minimal dust generation and proper disposal.
6. Material Disposal:
- Segregate materials into appropriate waste streams and cart away all debris for recycling or disposal.
